My Soldier Is Home
I had the best time going to Lawton / Fort Sill, OK to pick up Ben. Everything went very well. Lawton is a very small town, so that made it easier to know my way around. Fort Sill where Ben was, was 3 miles away from Lawton. When I got to Lawton I rented a car, checked in to my hotel and then drove to the post where Ben was. I did not get to see Ben until the next day on Thrusday. I still wanted to drove around and see where to go so I would not get lost the next day. The family day started at 10:00 and we meet in a classroom where Ben's drill sgts talked about what they had been doing for 10 weeks. I really like it because it was very motivating and I am now a more prouder military wife. I still had not seen Ben yet I was so anxious now. Then they took us outside to see some drills they did. That was very neat, everything was very professional and right on schedule. They took us up to there Barracks (where Ben slept). That is where everyone got to see their soldier. The soldiers were in there dress greens (suits) standing by there beds. But Ben was not there. He was chosen by his drill sgt to be in a skit at the luncheon. So I just took pictures and drove to the other side of the post for the luncheon. That is where I finally saw Ben. The first look at Ben was he looked really different but very good. It was the best feeling again to be with him. We had lunch with everyone and then Ben was given a day pass to be with me all day. He had to be back by 9:00.
The first top picture with them all lined up was the drill sgts yelling at them before they could leave on there day pass. It was pretty funny. The drill sgts said don't go to a casino , strip club, don't drive a car , buy a laptop or cell phone. On and on. The soldiers kept saying yes drill sgt yes drill sgt. It was pretty cool.
Ben did awesome. He was a platoon guide. In one of the pictures he has his soldiers all line up and he is telling them what to do. Everyone knows who De La Paz is. So I was very proud to be his wife. Friday was graduation, and it only took an hour. So Ben went back and packed up and said his good byes. Ben was the only one leaving that day. We flew home back to vegas.

Man, I almost started crying reading your post. I don't know if I would have been able to endure Rodney being away from home for so long. Good Job Girl!
